A little bit about my work:

I am a mac-addict from way back, and always work with a Wacom Tablet in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, Alias Sketchbook Pro, or whatever other program happens to move me. For layout, I use Quark XPress, Adobe InDesign or Illustrator. I also dabble in ToonBoom for blocking out story boards. I like to focus on creating illustrations that will appeal to a broad range of people from various ethnic and racial backgrounds. I am just as happy working in black & white as color. For now, I am focusing on writing and illustrating children’s book, and painting digital portraits and caricatures on commission. Herself: Robin H. Farren
A little bit about me:

I grew up in a beautiful dream, surrounded by a white house with a white picket fence, three older siblings and a wonderful mother and father who loved me. Every room of our little house was filled with books of every kind, manuscripts, musical instruments, radios, record players, art supplies, decks of cards, boxed games, and my father’s oil paintings. A joyfully creative chaos.

At 6 years old, I won my first Arts Fair for a drawing of my parish priests sitting at a table and gleefully counting money from the donation baskets. (At the request of the nuns, I changed it to show them gleefully eating dinner.) My very 1st edit & revision. I knew I wanted to be an illustrator.

After college, in my 20s and 30s, I was a type designer and graphic artist by day, and a singer/songwriter at night. I sang back-up in big original rock bands, and was the lead singer in a little tragically hip alternative band in the Boston area. My day job kept growing until I became the worldwide creative director for my division of AGFA. This was a great job, but very demanding. Crazy hours, big budgets, impossible deadlines, printers’ proofs, trade shows and magazine ads. I loved it. My alternative band with my husband Michael was doing pretty well on mp3.com, and we were having songs picked up on network television both domestically and internationally. All was well with the world.

When we had our first child, I put music on the back burner, and shifted focus from the high-pressure advertising world to the highly creative world of children. Now I’m working to create a beautiful dream for my little family. We live in a white house with a white picket fence, on a hill surrounded by bushy treetops. Every room of our little house is filled with books of every kind, manuscripts, musical instruments, radios, CD players, art supplies, decks of cards, boxed games, balls, bats, our dog YoYo, the spirit of our hamster Raven, with drawings and paintings by my 2 talented boys. A joyfully creative chaos.
